What Are the Early Pregnancy Symptoms?
The wait between when you last had sex and when your period comes can feel like an eternity, whether you want to be pregnant or not.
You may become hyper aware of everything your body does and question if it means you are pregnant. It’s completely normal to wonder and want quick results.
However, while some women experience early pregnancy symptoms, other women might have symptoms later in pregnancy, and some may not have any at all. Keep reading for a list of early pregnancy signs and symptoms.
A missed period is the most telltale sign that you could be pregnant, but you may need to wait for it if it’s still a few weeks away. Once you miss your period, you know it’s time to take a pregnancy test.
You could experience slight nausea, like feelings of motion sickness, or a more intense reaction, like vomiting. However, you don’t have to vomit for nausea to count as a pregnancy symptom.
Also called “morning sickness,” you can feel nauseous at any time of day. It’s likely caused by your body adjusting to hormonal changes.
Pregnancy can cause your breasts to feel tender and swollen and your areolas to darken. If you’re noticing changes that seem different from what you would experience during PMS, they may indicate pregnancy.
Are you running to the restroom more than usual? This could be a sign of pregnancy. Your body processes extra fluid during pregnancy, causing you to urinate more frequently.
Keep in mind that you should not experience any burning during urination. Also, there shouldn’t be any strong smell, blood, or cloudiness. If so, you may want to ask your doctor about getting tested for a urinary tract infection (UTI).
Did you have plans to accomplish many chores and tasks, and then you felt so uncharacteristically tired that none of those plans happened?
If you’re feeling extra tired and sleepy, it could be due to the rise in pregnancy hormones.
In addition to the five listed above, you could also experience moodiness, bloating, light spotting, cramping, food aversions, constipation, and nasal congestion.
If you missed your period, it’s time for a pregnancy test. Schedule a confidential appointment at Colorado Springs to find out if you are pregnant.
If your expected period is still a week or so away, rest assured that you will find out soon.
You can definitely take an early pregnancy test at home if you would like. Follow the timing instructions, and keep in mind that the accuracy might be lower than a test taken after a missed period.
If you receive a negative early test, follow it up with another test just in case after a missed period.
If your result is positive, schedule a time at Colorado Springs Pregnancy Center to confirm your pregnancy with additional testing and an ultrasound scan. We provide all of our services at no cost to you.
