Recovering from Abortion

Following an abortion, many people initially experience relief. The perceived crisis is over, and life returns to normal. However, for many, the crisis is not over. Months, even years later, significant issues may develop. Those who have experienced abortion may exhibit some of the following symptoms:

  • Guilt
  • Grief
  • Sense of loss
  • Anger
  • Anxiety
  • Depression
  • Suicidal thoughts
  • Difficulty bonding with their partner or children
  • Eating disorders

For those struggling with abortion in their past, it is important to remember you are not alone.

Bridges of Hope

Post-abortion stress is real. If you or someone you know develops any of these symptoms, we offer confidential support through our post-abortion recovery program, Bridges of Hope. Whether it has been days, months, or years, many women and men are affected by their abortion(s) at some point in their life.

Women’s Abortion Recovery Group

Bridges of Hope is a 9-week group composed of women who have experienced abortions. Our group is a safe and confidential environment where they can begin the healing process. The group meets for two hours each week for nine weeks. Some topics covered include anger, guilt, depression and forgiveness. Trained and caring facilitators assist in leading both Bridges of Hope. There is no cost to attend.

Men’s Abortion Recovery Support

For men who may be struggling with a decision made regarding abortion(s), Bridges of Hope also offers one-on-one support with a male facilitator. This pain can often be just as real for a man who must deal with a past abortion.
