Early Pregnancy Care

The Colorado Springs Pregnancy Center medical team offers the following early pregnancy care services at our Galley and Eastside locations:

Confirmation of pregnancy

• Pregnancy test and a limited obstetric ultrasound

Establishing gestational age

• Based on last menstrual period (LMP) and/ or ultrasound measurements

Medical history review

• Chronic conditions, prior pregnancies, medications, family/ genetic history
• Behavioral Health Screening
• Substance Use Disorder Assessment

Baseline well-woman physical exam

• Vital signs (blood pressure, temperature, pulse), weight, pelvic exam, possibly Pap smear
• Fetal Doppler as appropriate

Labs and screenings

• Blood tests (including STI’s, Blood typing, and Rh factor, complete blood count)

Medical treatment for identified infections or anemia with follow-up appointments to evaluate treatment effectiveness

Discussion of next steps

• Prenatal vitamins, nutrition guidance, lifestyle education and recommendations, education for emergent precautions for pregnancy complications, anticipatory guidance for ongoing prenatal care, referral to ongoing prenatal care.
